Our Chapter
Pretoria Chapter NPC was established in 2006 as an incorporated company. It received H.O.G. International affiliation the same year. Pretoria Harley-Davidson® was the sponsoring Dealer.
The Company is a non-profit organisation and the objective of the Chapter is to be a recreational, social and family orientated association that organises rides, events and be of service to welfare organisations. There are two classes of membership, an ordinary member and an associate member. Ordinary members must own or ride a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. An associated members is the partner of an ordinary member.
The Company is managed by 5 Directors that are elected by our members on a two year basis to their respective positions . A Director must be a member in “good standing”.
To become a member or renew one’s membership of the Chapter and to be in “good standing”, a person must submit a completed membership form to the Membership Officer and pay Chapter fees as prescribed on the Membership Form. This application will be reviewed by the Directors to approve a person’s membership.
The Chapter is therefore an independent company under the Company Act of 2008 and each member in “good standing” have one (1) vote at any General Meeting. Such a member is also allowed to wear Pretoria Chapter colours at any official ride or event, this includes the wearing of a Marshals’ jacket for Marshals.
On 13 December 2019 the Sponsoring Dealer, Pretoria Harley-Davidson®, withdrew sponsorship from the Company. The result is that Pretoria Chapter is not H.O.G.® affiliated anymore and therefore cannot use the H.O.G.® trademarks in its name or on any social media.
The Company will continue as Pretoria Chapter NPC and will seek H.O.G.® affiliation in line with member requirements.
The Company is governed by a Memorandum of Incorporation (MOI) and the Bylaws, these documents are the procedures and policies how the Chapter is managed. The Company has an Annual General Meeting where Directors (Company Act) are elected, the Annual Financial Statements and Annual Membership Fees are approved.
All Directors and Officers are volunteers, no remuneration is received by any officer serving the chapter members, or performing any function for or on behalf of the Chapter. The finances of the Chapter are controlled according to financial best practices.
Why must I join Pretoria Chapter NPC:
· The Chapter is well managed and structured in such a manner to be an effective and efficient organisation.
· It is a family orientated association and not a “Motorcycle Club”.
· It brings like minded people together who love riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.
· The Marshals of the Chapter are extremely well trained to keep the pack and every rider safe and assist new riders.
· New riders are trained on how to ride in a pack by means of a course called Pack Rider Training (PRT).
· A Safety Officer (Doctor of First-aider) and a Biker Buddy accompanies every ride in case of an emergency or breakdown.
· Political and racial divides are not tolerated.
· All members to behave themselves in accordance with our code of conduct at all times.
· Promiscuity is not tolerated at all.
· We abide by our Code of Conduct.
